Essay: The Individuation Trinity (Exclusive for Patrons)

http://www.mediafire.com/file/o5yokx3nuulvsxj/AnInfinitePath_essay_TheIndividualizationTrinity.mp3

*This is the first of a two part private essay, coming your way back to back together as one!

AnInfinitePath_Thumbnails_v012_essay_TheIndividualizationTrinity.jpg

This is the first of two private essays in regards to what one might call individualization. This one is titled The Individualization Trinity and the next is titled Your Unique Expression of Individuality. INDIVIDUALITY, a noun, can be defined as Separate or distinct existence; a state of oneness.

Our personal body of work focuses around a life philosophy we’ve developed consisting of growth, balance, and creativity. Which are the main overarching themes of not just our podcast, but our essays and documentaries. Those three pillars are broad but we’ve laid them down because of how future proof they are. For it’s not like we’re just talking about one thing so specialized but instead a timeless life philosophy and practice. These three dynamics of internal spiritual growth, equilibrium, and creative output we are currently calling The Individualization Trinity. This has really become our thing which we have developed ourselves. Our personal system of spiritual development. Themes of which can be seen throughout our media as well as our work with others directly.

It’s not just media we create as it’s great to do some things digital, and some things in the flesh. Hence working with others directly in person or directly remotely. If any of our material resonates with you, and it likely very much does because this is content you’ve paid a little something to access, feel free to contact us anytime. As we aim to provide potential guidance, insight, support, and resources, along with a network of others who also may be able to help steer your personal path in even more advanced ways than we can. So here are some initial details.

The Inside - Growth. The inside comes first. Catalyzed personally for Niles in study and praxis in two specific esoteric systems. Entheogenic Shamanism and Hermetic Alchemy. Applying these experiences to both our life and work has been astronomically helpful for innerstanding the world while fostering a willingness to share the more in-depth knowledge with others who have ears to hear. This requires being a good listener and communicator to have honest interactions with others. For we live in amazing and challenging times. Often resulting in personal feelings of disempowerment via confusion, loneliness, sadness, and disconnection. Yet challenges and obstacles are opportunities for personal development, forcing us to awaken to our individual powers through struggle.

The Middle - Balance. Balance is the center point and a secret to life. We must find equilibrium in all aspects of our lives and a major problem with the vast majority is that they live radically off balanced lives.

The Outside - Creativity. Internal individuality will outwardly manifest in your external works. Niles' most passionate personal work focuses around real life human stories of opening up to truth and power. Including completing multiple feature length film projects, all of which, in terms of their place within commerce, have also been financially successful. He has learned a great deal through bringing these works into manifestation and is happy to help share insights, tips, and tricks for how you are also fully capable of finding harmony and alignment along with some level of rewarding original creative output.

Now a bit of a disclaimer. I am not a life-coach who’s personal life is a mess so they tell others how to live there's, a psychiatrist who just wants to medicate you and get you back to work, a therapist who's kooky and likely needs therapy themselves, a “conscious business” owner pretending they’re spiritual while really just trying to expand their email list and anti-social media following, or a guru who's all about the dollars to sell fake enlightenment. Of course those industries are not always like that, they just are 90% of the time. The point is he is not a medical professional but instead a guy who's happy to help those who ask great questions and show they are serious about their personal expansion which, in doing so, helps him as well. Since there is ultimately no help but self-help.

We had done a previous essay titled Deciphering A Symbol in which we went through a step by step explanation of the esoterically flavored symbol or crest which we put together in regards to our podcast An Infinite Path. Since much of this life philosophy has been developed over 5+ years of talking to other acquaintances, friends, colleagues, students, and teachers, we decided to make a more simplified logo which was derived from the podcast logo and also is an encoded visual encapsulation of this process. It consists of an equal sided triangle turned upside down so the point is at the bottom with an interlocking circle looping through the triangle three times. Derived from the triangle and orosboros in the podcast logo.

Historically and mythstorically the triangle and circle together can mean various things. The triangle either within or interlocking with a circle symbol is a common image in alchemy and religions. The symbol has numerous meanings including spiritual sight, higher knowledge, the unity of the trinity of God, the divine union of the body, mind and spirit, masculine and feminine, or universe, the symbol for protection and power, and the totality of wisdom.

NilesHeckmanComTriangleCircleOverBlack.png

It goes without saying that a triangle has always represented a trinity. There have been many trinitys through time and our trinitiarian interpretation of the triangle in An Infinite Path logo was a right side up triangle. We previously spoke of the three points symbolizing science in the lower left corner, religion in the lower right corner, and magic in the top center peak. It's true that the world is a deeply magical place and to ascend to a peak or mountain top takes hard work. Hence why that symbolism worked well there. Yet the pyramid nature of a triangle also speaks to how much of the power systems on the planet are pyramid schemes. With so little power concentrated at the top. So our flipping of that upside down to the simplified Individualization Trinity was saying, no, the power is more at the bottom with each individual. We also flipped it because a triangle upside down looks like it’s balancing, in perfect symmetrical balance on its center point. So in this stance the three points of the triangle are the upper left representing growth, the lower center representing balance, and the upper right representing creativity. With the endlessly looping circle being there to represent this could be a reciprocal process or even an endless process. The logo is also symmetric because of how crucial symmetry is in our life both inside and out. Primarily internally due to a personal relationship with a tryptamine catalyst which puts us in an alternate state of consciousness called “Mirrored Bilateral Symmetry” which is similar to a moving meditation. We have spoken to this complex and occult dynamic in some of our other recorded conversations and writings. This is externally relevant here for following this internal theme and keeping the logo in a proper harmony of balance. Which could not have been visually communicated via an asymmetrical representation of any kind.

We will dive a bit more into detail into the third part of this process - esoteric creativity in the next essay, titled Your Unique Expression of Individuality, but we will wrap up this essay to give more esoteric details regarding the first two parts of our Individualization Trinity - growth and creativity. Which we feel can no more greatly be done than by one of our teachers - Rubaphilos Salfluĕre. In his essays he writes:

The binary condition is the very foundation of our reality. We might say it is the universal and ultimate 'rule' that governs everything we experience in our reality .... after the unified condition. Because of this we can never find anything here that is unified and wholly in balance with itself. Because unified and completely balanced things are always stored in the non- physical, beyond the average person's reach. Therefore, when we are investigating our reality, which is based on binary law, everything we find here displays this binary nature. From this fact we get things like ... male and female things. Positive and negative electric poles. Positive and negative magnetic poles. Day and night. Up and down. Left and right. Back and forward. Fixed and volatile, observer and observed, etc, etc.

We cannot forget, though, that while all things we commonly experience are defined and based upon binary law, at their root is a unified harmonious commonality, and that because that unity is the origin or source of everything else, it maintains the position of ruler or governor. Because of this there is always an urge within the binary state to return to the unity state. In animals, for example, this is the source of the urge to procreate. In Hermetic philosophy, it is the basis for the ideal that 'love' is the governing force in the universe.

Now, the problem with this unified-field is that because everything contained in it exists in a state of balance, where each of its parts is in harmony with the others, no growth or evolution can happen in that state. In order to have growth we must have a condition where one thing can relate to another thing. In other words, we must have a 'two-thing' condition, which does not exist in the Anima Mundi (meaning the world soul, unity monad, or akashic record). So the Anima Mundi is simply a store-house. It is not a place where things grow and develop. Because of this, if we want to grow and develop ... to 'express' all that is 'potential' in the Anima Mundi, we must create another condition where that can be possible. In the more religious descriptions of Hermetic theory this situation is sometimes explained as ... God (the Sole existent One Creator), decided to extend out from Himself, and by doing-so, divide Himself into two halves, or in two.

The Creator did not create the binary reality so that it can be escaped from. It was created for a specific purpose, and that is because in unity no growth can occur, and the Creator desired evolution and expression. So the binary reality was created in order to stimulate and support growth and development. But because everything in binary existence possesses an urge to return to unity (balance), in order for the two poles of the binary mechanism to be kept apart another force had to be created that would maintain binary existence.

This fourth 's' force is the very thing that sustains binary (physical) reality. Without it everything we know would collapse back into passive unity. Because the 's' force maintains binary reality ... and that in order for a binary to exist, each pole of a binary must be to some degree out of balance, the 's' force is also the maintainer of imbalance, opposition, tension, conflict and ... decay. From this angle the 's' force is the origin of what modern physics refers to as entropy(the predisposition of things to decay if energy is not imposed on them to be maintained in good condition).

In the most fundamental understanding of alchemy this binary condition and rule of nature is encapsulated in the symbolism of the two-thing view of the alchemical process, which we see in symbols such as the King and Queen; the Lion and Eagle; the winged and wingless dragons, etc. When alchemists are describing their laboratory process in terms of these binary symbols, they are telling us that they are looking at their process from the point of view of the binary law which governs any 'cosom (micro or macro).

A deeply important part of this mind machine is the Nachash, The binary function. Its job, all through our life, as we develop, is to maintain the two-ness view of everything we come across. Because of this, whenever we experience trauma, it is the Nachash which specifically stores those memories, because trauma is associated with fear, and fear is a powerful 'divider'. At the same time, every single conflict we experience in our lives, no matter how big or small, is a conflict that is either created or maintained by the Nachash. Because conflict is a powerful 'divider'. Every opposition we have about something. Every disagreement we have about things. Every dislike we hold about things ... all these things create and maintain division in our world, and in our world view.

These divisions maintain the binary illusion of existence, but they also stimulate the urge to learn, to find solutions to problems, and to find harmony and balance in life. For without division there is no recognition of or urge toward balance. This is an extremely important concept, that exists at the very core of what we are as humans, and which, as we shall see ... is the root of our eventual desire to complete our need for binary existence, and once again find harmony and Higher Understanding. To discover alchemy, and to use that mechanism to evolve ourselves away from a need for extreme division in our lives, back to unity (the Stone of the Philosophers).

Occult Of Personality 2020

Screen Shot 2020-08-05 at 2.07.20 PM.png

It’s our delight and honor to present to you Occult of Personality #203. Esoteric Podcast Extraordinaire! Hosted by Greg Kaminsky, who is a wonderful gem.

https://occultofpersonality.net/niles-heckman/

This conversation was had nearly a year ago. Way before Covid went down. It took so long to air I actually wasn’t sure if Greg was going to air it at all. As he went a bit radio silent after the chat which at first led me to think he might have thought it was wank. My other theory is that he might not want to put it out because I mentioned entheogens, which are, for the most part as frowned upon in occult circles as they are within religious orthodoxy. I remembered it being an outstanding chat but never got a recording of it on my end of the Zoom call, so couldn’t share it privately and thus also kind of forgot the details of what we exactly talked about.

After having been on about 30 other podcasts over the last 5/10 years, I thought this was going to be only the second time a chat was never aired and the host went radio silent. I will privately say here that the first was Noah Lambert of Synchronicity. Who invited me on his podcast, we had a good conversation, and then he went 100% radio silent and never aired the episode. Which I have spoken to in a back private post which you can find entitled “The Hidden Podcast.”

After deciding to check back in with Greg cold last month, I mailed him, again, and proposed we re-record the call. Being dumped from most podcasts wouldn’t so much be anything I’d let get under the skin, but Occult of Personality is an extra special show. Like The Higherside Chats, it’s been one of the personal fav’s over the years. This time he replied and said that the reason it had yet to be released, was purely on him and that he held me in high regard. This was a nice piece of feedback because up until that point it was kind of like having a child kidnapped and never finding out anything. As in my book it would be better to know, even if it’s bad, than not know. So all good and this is just Greg’s speed for rolling out podcasts. Which has slowed quite a bit for him in the last year for numerous reasons, of which he had a good point that his taking large time away from continuing outputs has been necessary for him to grow as a person. And we do not disagree!

A Chat With Kory Martin Juul in January of 2020

Here’s the link to a conversation I had in January of 2020 with Kory Martin Juul. Kory was on episode 42 of the podcast in the Novelty Generators days. He’s a unique individual because like myself, he has a background working in film post production primarily in the visual effects field. Which is actually not very creative and instead very technician and assembly line based. The extremely unusual thing about Kory is that he has been trying, for over 15+ years, TO MAKE A FULLY ANIMATED FEATURE FILM mostly by himself.

High end feature films take years to complete with hundreds if not thousands of creatives, artists, and technicians. Look at the end credits of any movie and know they are usually a massive team effort. Animated films are like that cubed. Because theoretically, one guy with a camera can go out and make stuff, one guy on a computer can do that as well, but everything “CG” generally takes significantly longer than anything live-action. I have spoken in the past as to how crazy it is to do any sort of animation or computer graphics independently, because it takes forever. So for Kory, making this choice in his life is something that I grasp the idea of wanting to do, being another former post production working technician myself, while also greatly respecting the value of him trying to forge his own way and make something on his own. As someone who also spent nearly four years making a feature documentary independently, I feel his pain and greatly identify with his struggle.

He threw an idea at me a couple years back of doing a documentary on this crazy world wind / Mount Everest climb which has been absorbing what is now coming up on two decades of his life but had no financial resources to put in anything toward actualizing a documentary about it. So I instead told him I would put in a couple days of writing into talking about it on a future essay. Which is long overdue and still in progress, but this interview was the first step. We already covered much of what he was trying to do with the film in his first podcast appearance, so this interview was always more intended to be writing research for the essay, rather than a second podcast on the same topic.

So expect a future essay regarding in due course while here’s the whole interview if you fancy a listen. Which will only be shared privately while the essay will be a public share down the line.

Fringe Voices

James Oehler is a high-school biology teacher living in the Bronx, in good old New York City. He has recently started a podcast called Fringe Voices to give a voice to outsiders, radicals and agitators from the Bronx and beyond! Much of the podcast thus far has focused a bit more on progressive politics, but in this episode released on July 22nd, he and I dive into "Art, Spirituality and Parenting in the Modern Era."

A Life Discovered: Finding Vivian Maier

finding_vivian_maier_ver2_xlg.jpg
karnowsky_poster_news.jpg

Vivian Maier was a phenomenal street photographer who was never known if her lifetime. Finding Vivian Maier is the critically acclaimed documentary about a mysterious nanny, who secretly took over 100,000 photographs that were hidden in storage lockers and, discovered decades later, is now among the 20th century’s greatest photographers. Directed by John Maloof and Charlie Siskel, Maier’s strange and riveting life and art are revealed through never before seen photographs, films, and interviews with dozens who thought they knew her.

We could write more here but as street photography is my main form of still work, we will go way deeper and more extensive into how this relates to our own life. Thus, there will be a future essay on this regarding.

In the mean time, do give it a watch and here's the official site:

A. E. Waite - The Complete Works

Arthur Edward Waite (2 October 1857 – 19 May 1942) was an American-born British poet and scholarly mystic who wrote extensively on occult and esoteric matters, and was the co-creator of the Rider-Waite tarot deck. If you dive into any philosophical research on such matters, it’s guaranteed you’ll continually bump up against his books. The complete works of which can be found here.

The Order of Essenes New Thought Correspondence School

The Order of Essenes was a New Thought correspondence school founded in 1938 by Burks L. Hamner. The Order of Essenes supplied lessons to its students free of charge, supporting the work entirely through donations, and this website does the same.

Hamner called his teachings Life Science: a genuine science of living that can be applied by anyone to attain health, happiness, and success. A successful businessman and philanthropist, Hamner studied the New Thought teachings of his time carefully, taking the best principles from the systems he encountered and testing them relentlessly in the laboratory of his own life. The resulting teachings were published in a series of courses, each of them divided up into weekly lessons.

They can all be found now online here - https://www.orderofessenes.org/

Heart of Darkness

HeartsOfDarknessApocolypse.jpg

Heart of Darkness is an 1899 novella by Joseph Conrad about a narrated voyage up the Congo River in the Heart of Africa. It's the original story which the film Apocalypse Now, the 1979 Vietnam War epic directed by Francis Ford Coppola, is based off of.

Hearts of Darkness: A Filmmaker's Apocalypse is the 1991 American documentary film about the production of Apocalypse Now.

Filmmaking is difficult. For every project that is completed there are 10x more that begin and never finish. I don't generally have other directors on the podcast because it's hard to find any who aren't egomaniac's only concerned about their career laurels and advancement. I've known other filmmakers who have had many broken friendships due to their behavior trying to finish a project. Also another documentary filmmaker who was divorced because he secretly spent all of his and his wife's money they we're saving for purchasing a house in an attempt to try to complete his film. Those horror stories are mainly from indie ventures and don't even include all the staggering challenges of managing high budgets and dealing with studio pressure.

This documentary was initially begun by Eleanor Coppola, regarding all the problems the film's production encountered, having to recast actors after extensive shooting with them, the budget spiraling out of control, and mental and physical health issues crew members suffered from, including nearly destroying the life and career of its director and her husband, the footage of which she then turned over to a couple other filmmakers.

There are six primary types of documentaries, but the rarest are those which have exclusive once in a lifetime access to unusual and rare events. This is one of them and is very worth a watch. As it's a fascinating exposé on the difficulties of complex filmmaking.

It used to be very hard to find. I remember paying the most amount I ever had for a VHS copy of it in the late 90's. Today, it is easily finable on streaming platforms such as Amazon or YouTube rental.

Oldie But Goodie - Podcast 46: Leonardo Bondani & Octavio Rettig

http://www.mediafire.com/file/uy4xbxgu3mmyx82/NoveltyGenerators_ep046LeonardoBondaniOctavioRettig.mp3

A old chat on the podcast was with two Mexican friends. Leonardo and Octavio. First, some background...

Leo is a fellow documentary filmmaker who was with us on the first episode of Shamans of the Global Village. Octavio is known for being one of the main providers of 5-MeO-DMT in the world, who has ability to legally travel with and administer the medicine, and is the shaman who the first episode of our show featured. Find his website here.

ceremony.jpg

If you are interested in galactivation, we have spoken many times around vetting a practitioner who you might work with. My personal experience with Octavio has been astronomically life changing in a positive way. However, full disclosure... he has become extremely controversial since our making of episode 1. For numerous things which I am out of the loop on and have only heard about after the fact. Apparently stemming from there having since then been deaths around his ceremonies. Shamanic medicines are no joke and Octavio is a bit of a cow boy. While being a beautiful Mexican Jesus style figure and a really honorable and good hearted dude, which is why my colleague Rak originally decided to feature him in the first episode of our show. But over time there were challenges to his practices and claims. Mainly related to this technique which can be seen in our episode where he pours water on people's mouths during their experience. Which looks like waterboarding. Also, challenges to the validity of the toad venom (the medicine) use actually not being an ancient indigenous tradition like Octavio states.

Leo and I share the commonality of having spent lots of time having made a documentary around Octavio and now always having a piece of media out there which faces these obstacles. Rak is more the face of Shamans of the Global Village than I am and since I'm out of sight, am thus usually out of mind with it, he's the one who's taken all the blowback for his choice to feature Octavio. Another toad practitioner, Gerry Sandoval, is even MORE CONTROVERSIAL than Octavio. Having done super sketchy unethical things around his practices. For some details see this article 5-MeO-DMT: Light and Shadow in the Psychedelic Toad and this community open letter 5-MeO-DMT-Malpractice

So we learned a lot making the first episode, and are continuing to deal with the ramifications of having made it. Including a complete press blackout in what seems like the entire English speaking first world. No streaming platform seem to want to touch it. Yet the vast majority of feedback we get from folks who actually watch it is positive and warm hearted. So we are still very proud of it as a stand alone piece of filmmaking, stand by it, and have a "onward and upward" attitude with the series as a whole.

There are many more details to this story and it goes way deeper of course, but along with the first episode of Shamans of the Global Village, this conversation is a good initial vector into learning a bit more about this particular incredible, amazing, and remarkable shamanic medicine. Even though it was recorded prior to much of this toad politics and drama which have since occurred. Do give it a listen.

Book Share: Think and Grow Rich

Napoleon Hill is the godfather of self-help books. All modern day self-help folks, charlatans or not, base much of their concepts after Hill's. Which is very justified, because even though it's a bit of a product of its time, Hill's writing is quite outstanding.

13106769038.jpg

He wrote Think and Grow Rich in 1937 and it would become his flagship work. He promoted it as not exclusively a business success book but more a personal development and self-improvement book. Claiming within its pages to be inspired by a suggestion from business magnate and later Godzillionaire Andrew Carnegie. While the book's title and much of the writing concerns increasing monetary income within commerce, he insisted that his philosophy covers a much broader scope of helping readers succeed in any goal in life, or to do and be anything they can imagine. As money is en energy, and want's to flow, being poor sucks and a base standard of financial freedom is important for having time wealth. So the financial aspect is important sure. Yet better still is being happy, healthy, and wealthy in body, soul, and spirit. Hill's philosophies are basically a combination of New Thought which was derived from earlier Hermetic (mental) occult philosophy regarding the power of the mind. He doesn't say that but those who know it will recognize it when they see it.

Folks have had a habit of taking Hill's books and abridging them with modern additional text. These are rubbish. Seek out his originals. Another book of Hill's which is highly recommended and will be shared here in the future, Outwitting the Devil, has absolutely dreadful dreadful dreadful annotations by Sharon Lechter. Who sadly was able to do everything in her power to make a fabulous work as crap as possible in cooperation with the Napoleon Hill Foundation after his passing. So Hill is turning in his grave for these water downs of his pros and it's absolutely recommended to seek out his originals and don't touch any of the newer additions with a 1000 foot pole. Here's the original addition of Think and Grow Rich. Including an infographic of a summary of the 13 principals it advocates for.

*Final note. there is a deeper secret to Think and Grow Rich which is spoken of in the book. We will discuss when we dive into Hill and is work in a future sure to be privately shared essay only for patrons.

Traveling Through The Ninth Gate (Exclusive for Patrons)

TravelingThroughTheNinthGate_NilesHeckman_icon_v004.jpg

We at nilesheckman.com usually work on completing our own films over doing "analysis" of other's films. BUT, the 1999 work The Ninth Gate is one of our favorites and holds a special place in our hearts, so we've completed one for that! In two variations, written, which has the advantage of the companion engraving artworks as well as some other supporting esoteric art, and spoken word, which is more easily digestible as you listen perhaps on the go.

This was initially planned as a private essay, but spiraled into a larger work which has somewhat become a very short little book. Coming in at around 40 pages. It's taken us about a week of research + writing, so we've actually decided to make it a stand alone product, the combined components of which we are selling for $6.66 through our store HERE. Yet, we give it away freely to you wonderful folks with continual thanks for your support.

Ghee Is Amazing

Expo-West-2016-2.jpg

*If you're vegan you need not read any further... and this message will self-destruct.

Grass-fed butter is amazing. Ghee is a type of clarified butter. It's more concentrated in fat than butter, as its water and milk solids have been removed. So grass-fed Ghee is 2x amazing!!

It does have a slightly funky taste yes, but has so many benefits. 10 benefits of Ghee via The Holistic Highway - https://theholistichighway.com/10-amazing-health-benefits-of-ghee/

Regardless of brand, it's recommended to of course make sure which ever one you get is grass-fed.

Ghee is basically mega healthy fat for your brain and on a personal note, I find that I stutter more when I don't have healthy fat. So I ALWAYS drink Bulletproof Coffee before a podcast.

If you want to get really hardcore, there are also forms of Ghee with other ingredients. Jambo Superfoods are my buddies and they for example make a form of CBD Butter Oil, Grass-fed Ghee & MCT Oil which is 3x amazing!!! https://jambocbd.com/product/butter-oil-cbd/

A Wonderful Example of Cottage Industry

A future essay will highlight the importance and beauty of small cottage industry. Meaning a small-scale, decentralized manufacturing business often operated out of a home rather than a purpose-built facility. Cottage industry use to be ubiquitous, but now you travel across countries and it's shopping mall after mall with the same paint by numbers chain stores. I could get political as to why that is but will spare you that here. The good news is jobs are moving to be more work-from-home based and a ripple effect of that is cottage industry will never die out! It will instead only return greater than ever because it's our natural way.

An absolute pinnacle example of this craft is David A. Smith - a traditional sign-writer and designer specializing in high-quality ornamental hand-crafted reverse glass signs and decorative silvered and gilded mirrors. This short film captures the 'Behind The Scenes' creation of the absolutely wonderful turn-of-the-century, trade-card styled album cover for American singer/songwriter John Mayer. For his album 'Born & Raised' and 'Queen of California' artwork, as well as 2 unique reverse glass panels, hand-crafted in England by David A. Smith.

This post was dug up while also doing some research on a future short film we are putting together, which is aiming to perhaps have a title cover in a similar style.
