Skeptiko Podcast #488

Alex Tsakiris has published the podcast I pre-shared over at Skeptiko at these two coordinates:

skeptiko-488-niles-heckman.jpg

https://skeptiko.com/niles-heckman-modern-shamans-dmt-488/
and
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Nzzjv2VEI8

His e-mail to inform it had been published reads:

Niles, it was absolutely great having this rough-and-tumble :-) dialogue with you. you're doing great work and I can't wait to see what you come up with next all the best, Alex

So all good and another share in the bucket list.

Sometime podcast titles such as this one “DMT FROM MEXICAN TOADS” are a little blunt and upfront. I would tend to lean a bit more subtile and vague with storefront marquee titles, but all good.

While I have you here, continuing pardons on our somewhat slow drip nature getting my own content published. If you’re coming in new to our members section, I must say it’s not usually THIS SLOW in terms of creation. As I’m often releasing a couple essays a month and we haven’t released a public one for over a few months now. Continuing blame lands on my house re-boot completion work which has, to be honest, been very overwhelming. We’re starting to move into the house which is progress but certain rooms are still construction sites and will continue needing the majority of my time day in and day out for at least the next couple months as we finish final details. As most of our work always lies in the 1’s and 0’s of cyberspace, building things in the flesh in the material does have great reward.

Regarding upcoming members content, there’s a new extended podcast about to drop next week and on the essay front we’re nearly complete with a couple that we will leave exclusive for you fine folks. We’ve also been working on the next stand alone extended essay / short audio book entitled “Bringing Ritual Into Meditation” much like our “Traveling Through The Ninth Gate.” Which I will of course be giving away to you fine folks freely the moment it’s ready.

Outside of these boring and soon to be dated updates, thanks so much if you’re mainly about supporting our overarching body of work regardless of payback output. Through all of life’s many challenges, may 2021 continue bringing you good fortune.

Discernment in an Age of The “Success Within Commerce” Mindset

Jack Canfield is a modern version of a new thought writer + speaker. Putting forth more main stream accepted idea such as the law of attraction and visualization for manifestation. He’s had large “success” within commerce, having written the book(s) Chicken Soup for the Soul which have sold zillions of copies.

He’s also a motivational speaker. Being a man in a suit who does the talk show, corporate seminar, graduation ceremony tour. His work is somewhat sanctioned by the machine because it doesn’t really rock the boat of Empire - Since Empire is also catered to having all its non-base Maslow Hierarchy of Needs inhabitants (slaves) go solely after a success within the commercial marketplace mindset. While that’s not un-important, it is ultimately a reduction because its underlying foundational goal is what real occultists would call “climbing the ladder of mundane life”. This Oprah / Chopra spirituality has some decent expansive things mixed with that not so expansive thing. Keeping this important detail in mind and using our discernment, here’s one of Jack’s speaking talks which does have some good advice such as specific details for goal setting.

http://www.mediafire.com/file/l7k0ahbo78m83hh/JackCanfieldSpeaking.mp3/

In terms of “success in life” our personal work advocates just becoming time rich within commerce in order to achieve independence, yet if one becomes financially wealthy as well then, fair enough.

Tangentially Speaking Episode 460 With Chris Ryan

Internet gnomes have published an epic chat we had over at the podcast Tangentially Speaking here - https://chrisryanphd.com/460-niles-heckman-documentarian-photographer-essayist/

1200x1200bb.jpg

The host Chris Ryan is great. He does the author + podcaster thing and even though it seems like everyone is a “New York Times Bestselling Author” these days, he really is one for his book Sex at Dawn.

We have a mutual friend Judy Campbell who’s company is at Campbell Consulting (https://campbellconsulting.com/) who has been helping Rak Razam and I with outreach for the show because she’s an amazing gal and also a burner (someone who goes to Burning Man) chick who’s secretly on the wavelength. She originally contacted Chris about potentially having us talk with him when we finished the second episode of the show in early March of 2020 right as Covid was hitting the shit fan.

The irony is Chris never got back to us then but did about a year later to another mutual friend of ours, Jarad Blowatt. Chris admits in the intro he was a bit on the fence because of misconceptions about the series, but I know that he ended up being really stoked to have the conversation because he kept wanting to talk, which is always a good sign.

Some James Allen Audiobooks

A chat today with a friend of the show brought up the name Jame Allen - a British philosophical writer who’s works could be said to be within the literary movement of “New Thought.”

I’m quite fond of Allen’s writings and have revisited them numerous times over the years. Here are some of his highlights, which never seem to get old.

Skeptiko Pre-Flight

Below is pre-released audio of me chatting with Alex Tsakiris over at the podcast Skeptiko regarding Shamans of the Global Village - https://skeptiko.com/

This was recorded in early December of 2020 for the podcast over there and who know’s when he’ll publicly release it.

Alex was a successful entrepreneur turned podcaster. His podcast has been around since 2007, much of the discussions of which focus on the science of human consciousness. The podcast name Skeptiko comes from the ancient Greek philosophy of Skeptikos, and refers to the teachings and the traits of a school of philosophers who sought “inquiry to perpetuate doubt.” He also wrote a book called “Why Science is Wrong… About Almost Everything” the thesis of which states that since mainstream science doesn’t get consciousness right, everything from that point on is also off. Which I agree upon since everything is consciousness based.

He’s definitely not an easy going host. As he can be very argumentative to the point of having full on fights and blowouts with guests. He’s almost an ambush interviewer and his show to be honest can be a bit of a mind field to be a guest on. So much to the point that I would caveat a few of these details to anyone else who consulted with me regarding potentially talking to Alex. He had me fill out a pre-podcast conversation form, which got me thinking about the difference between big scale science and small scale science. A theme that I’ve talked about in terms of big religion vs small religion, big government vs small government, and big corporations vs small businesses so I dove into that in the conversation. Some thing I said in that monologue triggered him in this chat and he definitely was confrontational as a result and I didn’t really get to through line the point. Which is ironic because the previous episode he posted before our chat was titled “Trigger Proof Warrior.” But it’s all good and I wish him nothing but the best. Alex supported the show (Shamans of the Global Village) by purchasing both episodes, and it’s nice of him to give it a bit of a spotlight with the guest interview. Which I will post whenever he releases it publicly but here’s the private early pre-flight.

Some Journalistic Sites For Omnidirectional Reading

*These are all US of A based, so not as relevant to you amazing beings from outside the American Empire.

Here are some non Main Stream Media (MSM) sites which are quite decent for the somewhat politically homeless, who don’t full on subscribe to down the line Corporatized Democratic Party thought or Even More Corporatized and now literally anti-democracy Republican thought.

”The Grayzone” investigative journalism much of which covers imperial skulduggery going on in South America - https://thegrayzone.com/
Bulwark seems to lean a bit left but doesn’t go kooky - https://thebulwark.com/
”New Discourses” seems to lean a bit right without going bat shit crazy extreme right- https://newdiscourses.com/
There are some decent things about Libertarianism, but then some really not good things, yet ”Reason” seems to be a generally rational Libertarian site - http://reason.com/
We’ve also shared in the past Adam Green’s “Know More News” which is a resource for tracking the dark sorcery of Israel - http://www.knowmorenews.org/
Democracy Now leans quite left and could be said to be liberal progressive. What we’ve liked about them the most over the years however is they actually give a shit about covering indigenous news - http://www.democracynow.org/

And for some junk food theres “Vigilant Citizen”. Some crap on here but some stuff on occasion which is worth a peek - https://vigilantcitizen.com/

If you know of more sites which are in a similar vein, please do send them our way via the comments or email!

A Minor Update From The Home Front

So yes, similar to December, we admit our outputs on the creative fronts have been a little slow as well this month. It’s totally not our style to stick to a rigid schedule and/or even give reasons to anyone why something has or has not been done on our independent fronts. But we do feel a bit obligated to share with you fine folks that this is 100% due to my wife and I’s house construction. After 3+ years of being in house limbo, we are now in the final phase which means we only have a little bit longer to go to get across the checkered finish line.

Mobile-Home-Funny.jpg

Building things with your hands will never go out of style. But man, it’s mentally and physically exhausting. This house stuff has been so back breakingly brutal because we’ve chosen to save a whole bunch of money by doing the demo ourselves, as well as many of the final detail stuff such as painting, cabinets, flooring, trim, and other finishing details. Which makes writing super tough because you really need to block out entire full days to write and can’t really do it an hour here or an hour there.

Cleaning out the attic of this house was the worst job I’ve ever personally done FYI. Imagine the grosses attic you can think of and then double it and that was this attic - Fiberglass, asbestos, dirty insulation, 100,000+ mouse turds, etc… The only things missing were a decomposing corpse and pool of radioactive waste. So now that the worst of it is behind us, we are now seeing the fruits of this labor pay off with a nearly completed new home which is now getting better every day instead of grosser and grosser every day. And this small farmhouse we’ve been taking on is proving to live up to the original plan of making our living situation sustainable and allow for us to continue to be creative for many years into the future.

A few months of slowness is a bit of an anomaly for our outputs the last couple years. As we’ve typically been quite good at having a somewhat regular monthly output schedule. If we shoot an episode of Shamans of the Global Village in a self-contained short period we can still do post and essay outputs on the side quite regularly while editing it. Yet, if we take on another feature in the style of Transmutation, which we certainly would like to down the line, that would be us having to slow other outputs for multiple years, so this lull is really not that long of a downtime period at all. Yet, we still want to let you special people know, our outputs will be back here a bit more regularly in not too long and we’re really looking forward to getting back to documentary / essay writing as well as some potential course creation which is on the future "to do" list.

So much going on in the world currently, much of which feels like a bit of a roller coaster. So we hope you are not only hanging in there but thriving during this extra challenging time.

Book Share - "The Day Spring of Youth"

30285737302.jpg

This interesting work, "The Dayspring of Youth" was penned by someone (or a group of folks) calling themselves “M” and has a subtitle regarding “Harnessing Nature's Highest Energy.” It’s very much a mixture of Yogic, Gnostic, and Hermetic teachings and is worth your time. Detailing some of the subtler forces related to the human organism, and how to relate oneself in harmony with them.

No book is perfect, and this one certainly is not, but since we’re extra focusing on practical spirituality this year, this books explanations of what goes into conscious eating, drinking, and breathing are very relevant and in depth.

Bulletproof Products We Use

Through our day to day lives, we come to know that one of the most empowering practices we can PRACTICALLY do is being very conscious of what we DO WITH and PUT IN our bodies. In addition to working on an upcoming essay regarding a step by step meditation which we’ve been using for the last year, here also comes another mental/physical health recommendation post! It’s very exciting yes.

Out of all the health product companies out there, some are quite good and some are of course not so great. The supplement industry is ripe with fraudulence in their packaging and contents and it can be hard to tell what’s rubbish vs what’s quality.

bulletproof.png

Since they are not very obscure, you very well may have heard of the health product company “Bulletproof”. Basted out of British Columbia and Seattle, their out of the gate sales pitch is “We provide clean coffee, keto-friendly snacks and proven supplements made with carefully selected ingredients.” Their general overarching DIET ROAD MAP is very worth your time and even though their older logo seems to pretend to have something to do with mindfulness and meditation feels like bit of a shallow marketing gimmick claiming to have something to do with spirituality when it doesn’t necessarily do so, we’ve personally been using some of their creations over the last couple years with great results, and thus wanted to share them here.

We used to eat quite a bit of glucose, not in the form of crap processed sugars but in the form of certain grains, pastas, and orange juice. Man we loved orange juice as recently as 5 years ago. As we’d pound a quarter gallon of it in the morning and our face used to be a bit more chubby as a result. Yet as we’ve dove more and more down the diet rabbit hole, we have simply come to realize it’s all about eating natural clean foods which our great grandparents ate, which means burning fats instead of burning sugars. Long story of course, but since we’ve eliminated virtually all sugar from our diet, we’ve become more and more chiseled with more and more energy.

Bulletproof coffee has become a bit of a trend in the last couple years, but as a coffee lover, we will say we have been impressed by it. It’s basically the mixture of their quality bean blended with a bunch of healthy fats. So you fill up on fat and are actually engaging in a form of fasting for breakfast. As many of the stats on “intermitted” fasting as a beneficial health practice are clear, we have also found that to be the case through our own personal usage. On the “clean” front, Bulletproof has long claimed that many forms of coffee beans are contaminated with micro-toxins. Especially mass produced ones of course. They state that their beans are micro toxin free and we have never gotten sleepy after having a cup of their coffee. With only the opposite being true - mega energy! We used to stutter quite a bit and have also hand on heart found we are a much more articulate speaker when we have a cup of their coffee with a glob of butter, ghee, and/or various oils included. So ever since we rebooted the podcast into An Infinite Path, we have drunken a cup of bulletproof coffee before each conversation, and it has always felt like healthy fuel for the brain.

Collagen proteins claim to fame is strengthening bones and allowing for healthier skin. We wouldn't quite say that we glow like Doctor Manhattan from the Alan Moore graphic novel The Watchmen by eating their collage, but do feel it has made our skin better than ever in terms of imperfections.

We don’t drink their coffee, butter or not, necessarily every day, but do treat is as a special treat for breakfast perhaps a few times per week. Although we are certainly not a nutritionist, our mother actually used to be one many years ago so perhaps being diet knowledgable runs in the family. So these recommendations come not from some type of creditation with sigils behind our name, but instead purely from our experiences over the last couple years, and how they have made us feel physically directly stronger and more energetic.

Our favs are listed here, all of which go well in blended in coffee to make “Bulletproof Coffee”.

*This one gets a bit more somber than we here at nilesheckman.com usually choose. As we ALWAYS judge a conversation’s quality almost solely by whether we feel better or not after having had or listened to and can’t say this one made us feel better afterward. Much more to discuss on these fronts.

Not Surprising...

Screen Shot 2020-12-13 at 11.25.36 PM.png

We've spent 2019 and 2020 streamlining and REDUCING the amount of platforms we post content too. Keeping really only our podcast RSS feed, this Patreon (which is the same as our two tier member section of our website) as well as Vimeo + Youtube. Vimeo is the go to specialized place for professional filmmakers to post content online, yet it's far from perfect, with one of the main issues being how clunky it still is. Try playing a Vimeo video without watching it buffer. Impossible!

YouTube is so stable and fast and never ceases to amaze technically. It's so great as a single place for uploading both our video and audio outputs in one location. Of which we've also started uploading back episodes of the podcast to. Yet we know how cavalier YouTube's censoring is. Since our content is some of the highest quality that most have never heard of, we've typically been a small blip on the radar which has gone unnoticed. Yet, this message from them marks the beginnings of our run in with the platform. Not surprising.

*On a side note, this December is looking to be a bit slow in regards to outputs. After about a 7 year long saga, my wife and I are closing in on finally actualizing a house by going through a massive remodel of the house I grew up in which we are moving back into. Long story, but after a failed attempt to try and build a house, which was the first 4 years, the last 3 years have been this phase two approach of building my parents a cottage in their backyard for their retirement so we could inherit the house - which needed a full reboot. It has been a way overly drawn out process, which I dragged my wife through for way too long. Not to mention the fact that we've spent a good chunk of the last 7 years living in a small 20 foot Airstream trailer. However, we are now nearing the completion of the remodel process. Since Covid-19 pandemic/plandemic has made for a really challenging 2020 for everyone, the timing for our family was actually quite good because we'd be doing all this home based work with our contractor and his team anyway, and as you get closer to the end, it gets more and more busy of a schedule. Thus every day I'm having to play the secondary contractor. I usually have a couple dedicated days a week for film/essay/podcast creation, but this month has been basically full-time contracting. There's no podcast planned, but I'm aiming to try and get at least a couple essays complete. Quality outputs never happen by a rush, race, or rigid schedule, and oftentimes we need periods of significant downtime to grow as individuals, but since you’re sending a bit of recurring money my way, of which we are very grateful, we do aim to give minor updates like these on occasion when there may be a bit of a lull. Thanks so much for your support of our work and happy holidays to you and your families.

Wilde's Audio Outputs

Stuart Wilde was a British writer who’s works focused around metaphysics and thus ancient wisdom and personal growth. Some of his stuff is in a bit of a “new age” wrapper. However, the majority of the underlying content is very worth you time in regards to principles such as affirmations, meditation, dreams, esotericism, higher self, abundance, confidence, empowerment and other juicy stuff.

His avatar has wrapped up it’s incarnation this time around so we share his body of audio outputs here - http://www.mediafire.com/file/psw9xsuql7yi0ti/Stuart_Wilde.zip

Hollywood Inside Skinny - Crazy Days and Nights

img_3351-928x523crop.jpg

This website is “supposedly” operated by a bigshot Hollywood lawyer. Due to this individual’s unique job position within that industry, they anonymously leak dirt on celebrities via the site.

Most of it are these enigmatic “Blind Item” posts where information is shared on a particular individual or group without saying who they are talking about, and folks try and guess who it is in the comments. Yet the “Blind Item Revealed” posts are worth a peek. It is shared here because even though the site is essentially gossipy garbage, some of the information is staggeringly accurate and it’s a good lesson in how those who have seeked out fame of course end up with just as many if not way more problems then those who have not.

Crazy Days and Nights - https://www.crazydaysandnights.net/

*We’ve had a side idea for many years to do a documentary on those who intentionally walked away from having successfully risen up inside entertainment industries. As there are millions trying to get in, every once in a while you hear a case of someone who got out. Would be very powerful to interview them and get the skinny as to their motivations. Dave Chappelle is one example. Josh Hartnet is another (although they both seem to dip back into working). Cameron Diaz is a even better example. As she intentionally cold turkey quit Hollywood via her own will.
