Bay Area native JONATHAN NILES HECKMAN began his professional career in visual effects while still a teenager. Landing an industry job three years prior to receiving his degree allowed him first-hand experience in developing a broad skill-set of artist roles, while spending the remainder of his university years focusing on filmmaking.
His cinematography experience led him to become an On-Set Visual Effects Supervisor, where he was responsible for overseeing plate photography with NEW LINE CINEMA, WARNER BROTHERS, 20TH CENTURY FOX, and MARVEL STUDIOS. His 14 year long career in vfx resulted in having been a member of three Academy Award winning teams shared between the Animated Feature and Visual Effects categories and the recipient of a VES Award for outstanding achievement in virtual cinematography in 2011.
His rare talent of doing camera work both in computer graphics and live-action extends into his own projects as an independent filmmaker now based out of Los Angeles. In 2011 he started directing projects under the label AURORA-LAB. His award-winning short film Supervised was released to festivals in 2013 and his second short film Auroras is slated for 2014 release.
